Seventeen-year-old Hajime Nagumo is your average, everyday otaku. However, his simple life of pulling all-nighters and sleeping in school is suddenly turned upside down when he, along with the rest of his class, is summoned to a fantasy world! They're treated like heroes and tasked with the duty of saving the human race from utter extinction. But what should have been any otaku's wet dream quickly turns into Hajime's nightmare. While the rest of his class are blessed with godlike powers, Hajime's job, Synergist, only has a single transmutation skill. Ridiculed and bullied by his classmates for being weak, he soon finds himself in despair. Will he be able to survive in this dangerous world of monsters and demons with only a glorified blacksmith's level of strength?

Triggermaster69 TBH this isn't the worst anime ever, however, it's not that great. I don't want to hate on it for the obvious tropes or bad cg, that's tolerable. What really makes me dislike this anime is how it skips over huge parts of the story and consequently dulls the anime, I don't want to come off as a manga warrior but I do feel like the manga did a better job. Despite my light hearted criticism this wasn't to bad, it's just a shame half the interesting plot points were skipped over almost completely. I just wish they where slower in introducing new parts of the story and character's. Fun but could have been done way better. (° • °)

Vanilla I liked this anime. The CGI wasn’t exactly AMAZING, but the story is really good and there are a lot of funny and badass scenes here! Tl;dr: watch if you like the “underestimated character gets betrayed and turns OP” shtick.

SuScKe This anime is GREAT!! Fuck the critics, they dont know shit!! Dont get why you all going on about it, its a classic anime with a little bit of everything! Yeu is over 300years old, and the rest of the girls is fighting over Hajime who is fixed on Yeu, which is funny and somewhat interesting with a ton of fighting action...i DONT CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU SAY!, if this is not for you..pass the fuck on to some shitty anime you think is good..and leave this show for us to enjoy!! If only you knew how much work goes into this, and how important it is to get it going. I admire the Teams effort in supplying us with a series so quickly, and for not taking 50-100 episodes to explain the main character and most of the story! There is lots of room to fill in the blanks as the show continues! STOP crying, and support the effort!

Anyway, what I am trying to say is as a long term fan of the novel and not so much a fan of the manga, the anime disappoints. You can read the novel officially on jnovel, but you could probably find the other unofficial translations somewhere on the internet. The manga is available on the dozens of clone manga sites.

aqua I read this story years ago when it was fan-translated and stopped when jnovel picked it up and forces anyone translating to stop or risk dmca, since that site is painful to read at. Odd that some think that it is a rip-off of shield hero when arifureta was older, maybe the production company thinks the timing is right since tate was popular so they decided to do this.

Oddling Welp... I suppose I'll throw in my 2 cents as well. I was looking forward to a good anime adaptation to this, but I had some reservations since the manga was only up to chapter 33. Still it kept me hoping for something good. Unfortunately... that did not happen. Just finished watching the 1st episode and I have been very... very... very disappointed. Too much was spoiled in the intro. The pacing was rushed far too much and actually crushed the immersion you should have experienced with all the characters (especially with our MC and how his personality actually is; I mean, the episode just made it seem like he flipped his shit instantly when that isn't the case). Hajime has a much deeper personality and, though it was briefly shown, a more meaningful and determined side to him. And then there was the CG bit that was quite pointless, especially considering it felt completely out of place compared to the rest of the episode. To sum it up... This anime is just another good thing made horrid because of people in too much of a hurry to animate their work and 'make it big' without using their heart to keep their work real. I hope the group mends this mistake before it becomes another series of trash that could have been much more. Here's to waiting with bated breath as I watch the rest... and praying they can recover.

Pta04 The Anime is Crap, So I went ahead and read the manga and it doesn't make much sense to me why they chose to cut the beginning of the story and important moments like, why his classmate hates him, the yandere like personal of the class idol, the mystery of the pope who summoned them. I don't Why the Director is Rushing The Show And Missing all the Build up Currently I don't Give a fuck About the main character in the anime And Also the girl we are supposed to relate to because their story is similar. Arifureta is its own story on fucked over protagonist that becomes OP. Now it just feels like a failed shield hero copy-cat

I'm glad he saved that vampires..2 betrayed fellas is gonna be good revenge team...i hate that others didn't do a shit while he's alone in dungeon..even trying to find dead body at least...and dude who did it is safe because others are like nah he didn't do it but clearly someone hit him....the main reason i watch is to see how strong dude will become destroy ones who stands in his way... he's no longer hero because he was betrayed by them...now he's kinda anti hero...and that part i love

shadynorwegian shield hero is a great isekai that breaks the mold and the escapism typical to the generic isekai formula. shield hero does it very well and shows some of the worst sides of humanity. this shows something like it, but not to that degree of unfairness that shield hero makes. here, all that was required was a moment of evil and what follows isnt humanity's fault. the world isnt against him, but he is trapped in absolute hell for an extended period of time. it's the same recipe, different variant, but it has it's own qualities. while the shield hero is totally oblivious to any and all kinds of romance, 'tis not the same here. at least this guy gets an inkling about his surroundings. it's more of a middle ground between regular isekai and shield hero where the beginning, while horrible, isnt as unfair as shield hero. sure, it's unfair that jealous guys try to kill him for being talked to by a girl, but at least the petty act can be understood by him. certainly, they have similarities, but why do you need to like one or the other? join me in isekai revolution and give all a chance. shield hero is better from a strictly written standpoint (i'm not even completely certain about this one) but i'm pretty sure i as a person like this one more. they both break isekai in a similar way, with similar weapon restrictions. that said, the shield hero also brilliantly balances the premise of only using a shield in innovative ways.

Both the writing and the anime of Shield Hero is far above the pack of recent manga and anime but you have these NPCs that hate it because their SJW overlords told them to do so.
